When we started SOSA Brazil, we knew the potential to reshape how innovation happens here was massive—but seeing it come to life over the past twelve months has been incredible.
We’ve had the privilege of working with some of Brazil's most forward-thinking organizations. Embraer, Natura, Suzano, BASF, Klabin, VEDACIT, ISG Participações, Braskem, SEBRAE, USP, Repsol Sinopec Brasil, CSN—the list goes on. These partnerships remind us daily of what’s possible when companies commit to solving challenges and finding opportunities through innovation.
Milestones that matter
A few highlights stand out when considering what we’ve accomplished this year.
We moved into our offices at InovaUSP—a significant step placing us at the center of innovation. This location has already become a hub where ideas and strategies come together to drive meaningful impact.
We’re also building a strong team, bringing in fresh energy and expertise to tackle challenges and explore new opportunities.
The visit from the global SOSA team was another highlight, reaffirming our dedication to bringing SOSA’s decade of expertise in open innovation to Brazil. Over the past ten years, SOSA has been driving impactful solutions for corporations, governments, and startups across industries. Combined with my experience and strong commitment to advancing innovation both in Brazil and internationally, this creates a dynamic force capable of transforming the ecosystem here and delivering meaningful results for all stakeholders involved.
Listening, learning, and leading
I’ve spent much of this year traveling across the country, meeting with leaders from corporations and public entities to understand their priorities and challenges.
I was officially invited to the Public Hearing of the Comissão de Assuntos Econômicos (CAE) to discuss changes to the Lei do Bem, Brazil’s key innovation tax incentive law. Being recognized as a respected voice in this field highlights the impact of our expertise in advancing innovation in Brazil.
We’ve also engaged closely with government entities across the country. Meetings with the Santa Catarina Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Innovation, the Piauí Information Technology Company (ETIPI), and the Brasília Secretariat of Public Security allowed us to explore solutions to enhance regional innovation ecosystems and modernize public services.
On the corporate front, we took part in major summits and strategic meetings with partners like SONDA and ISG, advancing projects that bridge innovation and business impact. Events such as the São Paulo Innovation District Conference and Brasília+TI 2024 provided platforms to discuss critical themes, from generative AI to building collaborative innovation hubs.
Beyond these, I’ve had the chance to visit key innovation centers, including the São José dos Campos Technological Park and the Natura Innovation Center. These visits demonstrated the importance of building ecosystems that connect academia, industry, and government—a model we’ve seen succeed in other parts of the world. At SOSA, we’ve established similar frameworks globally, proving their potential to drive results, and we’re pushing for more of this to happen across Brazil.
These insights have shaped how we approach innovation at SOSA Brazil and reaffirmed the value of having someone embedded in the local ecosystem. Being on the ground, with a clear view of both local needs and global opportunities, ensures we deliver impactful, tailored solutions.
A message of gratitude and opportunity
We’re now a year in, and the results speak for themselves—for our clients and for Brazil.
Rodrigo Rodrigues, Innovation Project Analyst and Startup Data Steward at SEBRAE shared this about working with us:
"SOSA demonstrated exceptional professionalism, expertly guiding startups through global market challenges. Their proactive approach and expertise were crucial for the success of new entrepreneurs, significantly enhancing the global presence of Brazilian entrepreneurship."
Felipe Steinbruch, CEO of CSN Inova, reflected on our collaboration that lked to their investment in EnviCore:
"SOSA’s result-driven methodology made all the difference. They translated our challenges into search criteria, identified and validated EnviCore, and mediated the interaction from first contact to investment. EnviCore’s innovative technology perfectly aligns with our sustainability goals, and we’re proud to support a company that’s paving the way for a greener future in cement production. This success case is a powerful example of what’s possible when the right players come together."
To everyone who has partnered with us, trusted us, and been part of this journey—thank you.
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the opportunity to work with incredible innovation leaders at Embraer, Natura, CSN, Suzano Ventures, Vedacit, Repsol Sinopec Brasil, BASF, SONDA, ISG, and InovaUSP.
To those who haven’t yet—let’s talk. If you’re not engaging with the innovation ecosystem, you’re leaving opportunities on the table—opportunities to grow, adapt, and lead in your industry. Now is the ideal time to act in Brazil—the market is ripe for innovation, and the early-stage nature of the ecosystem means there’s a real chance to get ahead. We’re here, on the ground, ready to help make that happen.
We’re just getting started, and I can’t wait to see what year two will bring.
